WE DEMAND
CLEAN AIR NOW!
WE NEED TO
BREATHE

Europe’s clean air rules allow for harmful air pollution, compared to the science-based guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). Good air quality translates into lower health costs and better quality of life. Improving air quality results in a healthier and more prosperous society. The European Commission has proposed revising the EU’s air quality rules. EU governments agreed on their position on the  Ambient Air Quality Directive (AAQD). EU governments and the European Parliament are currently negotiating the final agreement.

The Clean Air Action Now campaign brings together the existing demands for clean air on a unified platform. We strive to amplify the voices of European citizens to reach those responsible for our wellbeing at this critical time.

What can you do?
POLICY MAKERS

Adopt more ambitious air quality limit values, fully in line with WHO guidelines, as part of the AAQD revision process, and introduce national level policies to ensure compliance.

CITIZENS

To have your voice heard, sign the petition and contact your environment minister to demand protection from harmful air pollution for you, your family and the environment.

CIVIC SOCIETY

Magnify your actions to foster urgency among your communities during this critical period. Every voice counts, every action matters.

BUSINESS

Prove your leadership. Action on air quality will benefit you and the customers you serve—whether you are an SME or a multinational corporation.

THE TIME IS NOW
0
lives are cut short by air pollution every year in Europe

Clean air policy has never been more important. Rising temperatures, biodiversity loss and increasing disease burdens across the world are all closely associated with dangerously high levels of air pollution.

Air pollution leads to almost 300,000 people in Europe dying prematurely every year. Europe’s air quality rules are set to be revised, but your government has not yet decided whether it will protect you, your family, and the environment from dangerously high levels of air pollution.

Clean Air Action Now helps you to demonstrate your support for cleaner air.
